This is a brief summary of the State of Land Information in Namibia report. The SOLI Namibia reports serves as a diagnostic for the land information ecosystem in Namibia and enable targeted interventions for improved information management at a later stage.

Land is the bridge between companies’ environmental and social sustainability agendas, and it is foundational to both. To implement their commitments on climate change, net zero emissions, human rights, women’s empowerment, and farmer livelihoods, companies must focus on land in agricultural value chains: who controls it, who can access it, who has rights to it, and who enjoys the benefits derived from it (‘land inequality’).

Integration of the Sustainable Development Goals and targets into the implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the Intergovernmental Working Group report on land degradation neutrality

Land degradation neutrality (LDN) has been defined by the Parties to the Convention as: A state whereby the amount and quality of land resources, necessary to support ecosystem functions and services and enhance food security, remains stable or increases within specified temporal and spatial scales and ecosystems. The present report is an overview of the status of land degradation neutrality (LDN) in the region including a national overview for the 17 programme countries.

Este estudio explora críticamente cómo se toman las decisiones sobre el uso del suelo y cómo estas afectan los resultados de diversos actores en dos estados del sur de México: Chiapas y Yucatán. A partir de 152 entrevistas con actores de diferentes niveles, los autores examinan los procesos de toma de decisiones sobre el uso del suelo, los procesos REDD+ a nivel subnacional y las estrategias para la distribución de beneficios a nivel de proyecto, para examinar el potencial de las nuevas iniciativas de desarrollo bajo en emisiones (DBE).

Considerando un proceso de más de cinco siglos de desagregación y consolidación de la desigualdad, el presente documento busca centrar su análisis en las más recientes políticas públicas sobre tierra: ¿qué tipo de política?, ¿cuáles fueron sus resultados?, ¿qué impacto tuvo sobre la estructura encontrada?, ¿qué deja?, ¿qué resulta relevante?

Despite the progress made in terms of global and national land policy frameworks, effective changes in practices remain limited. This is particularly the case with regard to large-scale land acquisitions (LSLAs), as highlighted through this assessment of the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure (VGGTs) in the framework of LSLAs in Africa.
