Slovenia joined the Organization in 1993. Since then, cooperation has involved a variety of areas concerning sustainable agriculture and rural development. Today, responsible and sustainable management of fishery and forestry resources are major areas of FAO assistance. Slovenia also plays an active role in supporting technical cooperation and humanitarian assistance in and beyond the region. Most recently, the country has promoted efforts to support beekeeping, advocating for a World Honeybee Day.

This report is a mid-term evaluation (MTE) of the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF), one of the first “umbrella programmes” within the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
This workshop was organized in the framework of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) led initiative on “Financial and institutional risk mitigation and management strategies”. This initiative stems from the lack of significant funding for the forest sector in key areas of intervention such as forest plantations, natural forest management, small and medium forest enterprises, local and community forestry, and large‐scale forest investment projects including REDD+, while private capital is available for investments.
