Context and background: During decades the government of Côte d’Ivoire, try to find ways to resolved rural lands conflicts. So, since 1998, he was engaged in a politic of land securization. The issue of this process is the delivery of individual and collective land certificates to land rights holders. This certificate must be transformed on individual property title.

Analysis Of The Dynamics Of Two Distinct Land Regimes In Senegal Case Of The City Of Touba And Ziguinchor (Senegal)

In Cameroon, the pressure on wetlands, which cover nearly 70% of the national territory, appears to be increasing, whether for subsistence needs, firewood, grazing, logging or expansion of development projects. Currently, in terms of land use, forest has decreased by 619 km² and cultivated land has increased by 321 km². The surface area of degraded forests and land is estimated at around 12 million hectares, with a general trend towards an increase in the phenomenon due to both natural and anthropogenic factors.

Context and backgroundThis study focuses on land governance in Mali, particularly customary land in rural areas because of its importance in the development of agriculture, which occupies more than 80% of the population. The Malian State has undertaken reforms in order to secure customary land through their recognition and confirmation. Our study, through a systemic analysis of documentary data and field surveys, consisted in listing these reforms in order to see how they take into account socio-cultural realities. How are these measures perceived by local people? What are their effects?

Context and background:Reconciling the sectoral interests of urban planning and agriculture is a challenge. Context and backgroundPresently, in developing countries, growth of major cities is characterized by pressure on livelihood activities especially on potential inner-streets which attract variety of users including petty traders to interact on prime spaces hence leading to increased pressure on governing informal activities. Context and Background:Women represent close to 51% of the Cameroonian population and they are more than 70% active in food and market gardening  activities (INS, 2010). To this end, they need land and  capital to carry out their activities in order to make agriculture profitable and ensure food security for their families.

Context Pastoralism obeys logics that are sometimes misunderstood by public decision-makers and that are at the origin of many interventions that are often inappropriate. The controversial effects of pastoral public policies are accentuated by several exogenous and endogenous hazards.

In Africa, particularly in Senegal, the issue of gender in land governance remains an equation when it comes to access to land. In a number of West African countries, the issue of gender and land tenure is an ongoing one, insofar as the same obstacles have been identified for vulnerable groups, women in particular. In reality, access to land resources remains very limited for women for several reasons. As far as legislation is concerned, equal access is enshrined both at national level in constitutional and legislative provisions and at international level in conventions and charters.

Kyungu[1] and Kifunyi[2] are revered places for any Chagga family. It is located within a Chagga Kihamba and is believed to be the origin or first settlement of the clan, marked by the presence of a significant tree and traditional Chagga sacred plant—isale. Within the Kyungu and Kifunyi landscapes, one finds a scatter of material remains, including potsherds, bones, bottles and pieces of clothes. These material cultures and local narratives signify spiritual practices, rituals and remembrance ceremonies around the Kyungu and Kifunyi area.
