Luego de largas negociaciones, donde los campesinos resisten las acciones de los hacendados en su contra, se llega a un acuerdo y cada una de las 300 familias recibe una parcela de tierra, titulada familiarmente, en contraprestación por sus años de trabajo en las grandes haciendas

Este texto muestra cómo las comunidades de hoy están ante el desafío de emprender un papel protagónico en la constitución del Estado nacional y de su propio desarrollo con las autonomías indígenas originarias campesinas y para ello están poniendo en práctica sus mecanismos de resolución de conflictos, normas e instituciones para, de esta manera, esclarecer y consolidar sus derechos de propiedad sobre la tierra.

This brief discusses a pilot intervention in Rwanda led by the Belgian

resolution of disputes involving women’s land claims concerning
inheritance or marital relations. The intervention examined whether

Female-headed households often experience inequalities in access to resources and income-generating opportunities. Conflicts may make women poorer. But it is important to realise that conflicts also offer an opportunity for change in which gender stereotypes shift and gender roles and identities can be renegotiated. Marked power imbalances often result in communities losing out in use conflicts over their territories and resources. This applies in particular to extractive industries and infrastructure projects. It shows how important the solidarity of villagers is important to prevent land grabbing. The concerned village is in Taing Mlou village, Andoung Meas district, Ratanakiri province. 

In the Mekong region, conflicts between local communities and large scale land concessions are widespread. They are often difficult to solve. In Cambodia, an innovative approach to conflict resolution was tested in a case involving a private company, Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL), and several indigenous communities who lost some of their customary lands and forests when the company obtained a concession to grow rubber in the Province of Ratanakiri. The approach was developed by CSOs Equitable Cambodia (EC) and Inclusive Development International (IDI) with the support of QDF funding from MRLG.
