En 2016, el Centro para la Autonomía y el Desarrollo de los Pueblos Indígenas (CADPI), junto con el equipo de Pueblos Indígenas de FAO y el apoyo técnico del equipo de Tenencia de la Tierra de FAO, implementaron un programa de desarrollo de capacidades para y con los pueblos indígenas de Mesoamérica sobre las Directrices voluntarias sobre la gobernanza responsable de la tenencia de la tierra, la pesca y los bosques en el contexto de la seguridad alimentaria nacional (VGGT).

As reservas extrativistas, um dos legados do movimento organizado dos seringueiros do qual Chico Mendes foi um dos grandes protagonistas, foram idealizadas como proposta de desenvolvimento para Amazônia e para os povos da floresta, alternativa ao modelo estatal hegemônico, de características ambientalmente predatórias e socialmente excludentes. Desde o assassinato de Chico Mendes em 1988 foram criadas 88 reservas extrativistas (sendo 62 federais e 26 estaduais).

The report examines the struggles human rights defenders of Indigenous peoples have endured as they have sought to claim their right to Indigenous lands, and the steps that should be taken by the government to ensure that they are given the protection they deserve.

This paper aims to explore implications of large-scale land investment for local citizenship, with a particular focus on customs and mobility. The concept of local citizenship is a neglected aspect of land investment debates. We argue that the use of the concept helps us to identify how large-scale land investments work to invoke the hegemonic and customary power of indigenes and undermine local citizenship identity of migrants.

Luego de permanecer durante casi dos décadas en el Congreso Nacional, el Estado de Chile ratificó el Convenio 169 de la Organización Internacional del Trabajo (OIT) sobre Pueblos Indígenas y Tribales en Países Independientes el 15 de septiembre de 2008. Conforme a su artículo 38, dicho Convenio adquirió plena vigencias el 15 de septiembre de 2009, doce meses después de su registro ante la oficina del Director General de la OIT.
