Pastoralism is a way of life and livelihood strategy for millions of people around the world and it is characterized by mobility. In Ethiopia, pastoralism is an important means of livelihood for more than four million people, with most pastoralists living in the Somali, Afar, Oromia and Southern Nations regions.

Under the CGIAR Initiative on Sustainable Animal Productivity, research for development work has been undertaken to enhance production efficiency of smallholder dairy farmers through integrated
genetics, nutrition, and health interventions in selected districts of Ethiopia (Adea and Bahir Dar Zuria). The research sites were purposely selected to align with an ongoing dairy genetic
improvement program. The nutrition intervention was informed by focus group discussions, individual farm visits, and key informant interviews. The following were the main messages from the

NATURE+ works in the north western Vietnamese provinces of Lao Cai and Son La. Known for their hilly terrain, terraced rice fields and diverse ethnic groups, these provinces have high potential for increased food production. But sustainability, nutrition, health, conservation of nature and traditional knowledge are sometimes overlooked. The Initiative aims to help address these gaps in the areas’ development.

This preliminary study aimed to glean lessons learned regarding CIS production, translation, communication, and use from the first phase of the AICCRA project (2020-2023) which can be used to inform practices moving forwards as well as shape paths for further inquiry.

This event introduced members of AICCRA cluster teams, and AICCRA collaborators in their networks with an interest in cost-benefit analysis, to a curriculum that has been developed based on the new methods for cost-benefit analysis in the CIS theme cluster.

The implementation of activities in 2023 is focused on integrated emissions reduction and sustainability, as well as promoting investments in value chains oriented towards national and regional objectives of adaptation and mitigation of climate change, poverty, social inclusion and biodiversity.

Food legumes play an important role in Morocco's agricultural landscape. They cover approximately 270,000 hectares, representing 4% of the total agricultural area. The productivity of food legumes has persistently remained low and variable, primarily attributed to the susceptibility of the crop to environmental stresses, diseases, insect pests, and parasitic weeds. To set priorities for the development of new varieties and disease management, status and identification of viruses affecting legume crops is essential in the different production areas.

This book has adopted a food systems framework as a new way of conceptualizing and designing food policies and research. Looking beyond agriculture and value chains makes it possible not only to turn food systems into a driver of economic transformation but also to better include health, productivity, resilience, inclusivity, and sustainability as integral parts of system transformation. Such a fresh approach is urgently needed in light of limited development progress over the past years in Kenya and other countries.

This paper aligns current thinking on transboundary climate risk pathways with research on climate risk for pastoralists in African rangelands. Four pathways for transboundary transmission of climate risk were used as a framework for a narrative review of research literature on pastoralism and climate change. Selected cases were presented to highlight conclusions and recommendations. Pastoralism research reflects many aspects of risk management, particularly its relationship to mobility and the development of appropriate non-equilibrium models of pastoralist decision-making.

Conflict between farmers and livestock herders, normally pastoralists, has received heightened attention over the last two decades. However, primary research on the causes of these conflicts is scarce.

Concurrently, the country is home to an expanse of social protection and humanitarian assistance programs, varying in delivery modality and responsible actors.
