Conflicts over the appropriation, management and use of forest resources can pose significant constraints to sustainable forest management. Often, there are long-standing conflicts between governments, their agencies, the private sector and local communities, as well as among and within communities, over forest resources and their use and control.

The effects of property rights on investment are typically hypothesized to occur through a security-induced investment demand and a collateral-based credit supply. Using a two period model, this paper shows that for farms that are constrained in their access to liquidity, the investment demand effect will itself induce an increase in the endogenous shadow price of liquidity.

Resumen
En Paraguay existe una clara relación inversa entre la productividad de la tierra y el tamaño de la finca. La implicancia de esta relación es la posibilidad de realizar redistribuciones eficientes, que aumenten el bienestar de la población en general, disminuya los niveles de pobreza y permita compensar adecuadamente a los dueños de las tierras a ser reasignadas.
