Taking Erdaojiang and Dongchang District of Tonghua City, Jilin Province as examples, this paper studies the ecological environment restoration and governance model of their mining areas. In this paper, the vegetation cover (NDVI) data in the past ten years were selected from the study area. The Theil–Sen median and Mann–Kendall (MK) methods were used to analyze the time series of NDVI, and the vegetation cover change trend map of the study area was obtained.

The characteristics of low-income housing in Namibia include severe inequality in housing standards, heavy reliance on non-office jobs, overcrowding, and poor infrastructure. This study uses a survey and semi-structured interviews to investigate the improved service delivery of this low-income housing. It explores this through the perspectives of community-based facilities management, sustainability, and enterprise development.

Pounding effects on prefabricated frame bridges are not clear, which may influence seismic behaviors a lot in some cases. Prefabricated frame bridges are emerging structures designed to solve the problem of difficult land acquisition in highway expansion and reconstruction, the deck of the prefabricated frame bridge is adjacent to the original roadbed in the transverse direction, so the pounding potential exists under the earthquake ground motions.

This paper examines the spatial pattern of food discount stores in Switzerland, where private actors made location decisions without interference from planning regulations until 2016. Using aerial images and a classification scheme with functional and morphological attributes, the study shows that the majority of discount stores were built in peripheral commercial areas or greenfield sites as solitary buildings, indicating a preference for minimal land acquisition costs and car orientation. Some integrated central locations were also chosen.

The aim of this study was to examine the challenges of the policies and regulatory framework and strategies for the sustainable mangrove management in Zanzibar, from 1890 to present. The study collected both primary and secondary data. The secondary data were collected through the a review of previous policies, legal documents, by laws, ministry/department reports, research reports, newspapers and articles. The primary data were mainly collected through focus group discussions (FGDs) and semi-structured interviews.

In this study, a new approach has been used with SPSS and MATLAB analysis to study urban road traffic noise distribution mapping, to obtain the representative road traffic noise maps. The observation has been performed at a high traffic highway. The factors influencing noise level (traffic, road width, slope, and residential or administrative–commercial land) use were surveyed and recorded for each point and their local and time dependencies were computed.

Land degradation is a major risk to the sustainability and functioning of socioecological systems (SES), especially in arid/semiarid regions. By understanding a system and its interlinkages, the socioecological approach offers an innovative way to explore degradation. This is achieved through a synergistic analytical approach to improve the ability of identifying and understanding systems, predicting their behaviour, and modifying them to achieve the desired effects.

A survey of youths (N = 603) from selected oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta area was conducted. A subset of the sample participated in focus group discussions, and ten experts were interviewed.

There exists no single optimal way for transporting hydrogen and other hydrogen carriers from one port to the other globally. Its delivery depends on several factors such as the quantity, distance, economics, and the availability of the required infrastructure for its transportation. Europe has a strategy to invest in the production of green hydrogen in Africa to meet its needs.
