Dit rapport vormt een naslagwerk bij de Natuurbalans 2006. Het geeft een overzicht van de gegevens die het LEI in opdracht van het Milieu- en Natuurplanbureau ten behoeve van de Natuurbalans 2006 heeft geïnventariseerd en geanalyseerd. De aandacht gaat daarbij uit naar veranderingen in het landschap tussen 1990 en 2005, met een focus op de dynamiek in grondgebruik en grondgebruikers in het landelijk gebied in de afgelopen 15 jaar. Climate adaptation in the Netherlands

IPCC (2001) indicates that climate change will take place despite the mitigation strategies that are going to be implemented. This calls for adaptation strategies in order to reduce the vulnerability to climate change. The aim of this project was to make a policy assessment to contribute to a more thorough understanding of the adaptation options, their costs and benefits and the policy conclusions that could be attached to the results.

The Government of Namibia has identi ed land degradation as a serious problem which demands remedial intervention, and recognizes that integrated ecosystem management strategies are needed to e ectively address the underlying causes.The goal of the Country Pilot Partnership for Integrated Sustainable Land Management (CPP-ISLM) is to work towards combating land degradation by using integrated cross-sectoral approaches, which would enable Namibia to ensure environmental sustainability as well as the protection of dry land ecosystems and their functions.

On the occasion of the International Year of Mountains-2002, FAO and its partners undertook a large-scale assessment and global review of the current status and future trends of integrated and participatory watershed management. The overall objectives were to promote the exchange and dissemination of experiences in implementing watershed management projects in the decade from 1990 to 2000 and to identify the vision for a new generation of watershed management programmes and projects.
