This Law sets forth the rules and principles for exploring, producing and protecting geothermal and natural mineral water resources. Geothermal and natural mineral waters belong to the State. A special licence is required to carry out exploration activities. The licence may be issued according to the procedure regulated by these provisions and shall be valid for three years. An operational licence is necessary to exploit the resources above-mentioned. Operational licences are valid for 30 years and may be extended for 10 years. Exploration and operational licences are transferable. Site activities are subject to annual inspections by the General Directorate of Minerals Research and Exploration.
