This Act provides rules for expropriation for public purposes for the benefit of the State, provincial or municipal authorities of Polder Boards. Expropriation may be effected on rights of ownership of real property or other rights relating to property such as hereditary tenure of public land, servitudes or usufruct. The expropriating authority shall make an effort to acquire the property or right by agreement. If this is not possible, the owner shall be summoned to appear at court by Royal Decree for expropriation proceedings, which shall be held in accordance with rules set out by this Act. One Chapter concerns expropriation for public water supply works or the disposal of waste matters.
