This Act amends principally the Crofters (Scotland) Act 1993 and consequentially the Crofting Reform (Scotland) Act 2010 in respect of applications to decroft by owner-occupier crofters and the subsequent handling of such application by the Crofters Commission. The Act also provides with respect to appeals against decisions of the Commission. An owner-occupier crofter may apply to the Commission for a decrofting direction, i.e. a direction that the owner-occupier’s croft is to cease to be a croft. Where a decrofting direction is given in relation to a croft, the 1993 Act ceases to apply to the croft.
