These Regulations, made by the Cabinet Secretary for East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism under section 122 Tourism Regulatory Authority, concern classification, standardization and control of the tourist industry and development relating to tourism. Control shall be carried out through a licensing system, inspections and enforcement measures. The Tourism Regulatory Authority shall establish a Licensing Committee and a Standardization and Classification Committee. In considering the license application, the Licensing Committee shall have regard to, among other things, the environmental impact assessment requirements as set out in the Environmental Management and Coordination Act, 1999.
