This Act establishes the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science charged with responsibility for regulating the profession of Soil Science. It also establishes the Council of the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science and the Nigerian Institute of Soil and the Science Disciplinary Tribunal The Institute shall be a body corporate and shall be governed by the Council. The Institute shall, among other things, regulate the practice of the profession for Soil Scientists, ensure that Soil Science Practitioners in Nigeria uphold the ethics of the profession and guarantee the sustainability of high-quality soil, and promote soil quality management. The Act defines eligibility criteria for Associates and (Honorary) Fellows. The Council shall delegate a Committee of the Council to undertake inspection of soil analytical laboratories in Nigeria for the purse of accreditation.
