Location

The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

The Authority may declare any area to be a prohibited area. No person shall set up residence in any part of a Conservation Area without the permission of the Board or the Conservator or settle, cultivate graze in restricted areas, clear land, vegetation, cut trees, set traps or nets, etc. The Conservator is granted powers of inspection such as entry upon land.

Decree to provide for the reduction of so-called "land related pig rights", being the right to keep a certain number of pigs on a given land, in relation with reduction of pollution of the soil by pig manure. (10 articles)

Amended by: Decree No. 570 of 2001 to amend the Decree containing rules relative to implementation of a system of poultry rights based on the Fertilising Substances Act and the Decree relative to the restructuring of pig breeding enterprises. (2001-11-23)

The State Institute for Public Health and the Environment shall at least once every four years report to the Minister in the form of a scientific study on the state of the nature, forests and landscape indicating also probable and otherwise foreseeable future developments regarding the environment. The Minister shall indicate all bodies that shall be involved in the preparation of the plan. The report shall be sent to the parliament.
