Karel is an international development aid programme manager with a robust background in leading joint UN initiatives across diverse regions. With seven years of experience, he has implemented impactful programmes in the Caribbean, Nigeria, and Somalia. Notably, during his tenure at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Karel initiated the groundbreaking Durable Solutions programme, Saameynta, in Somalia. Currently, he is dedicated to addressing the complex challenge of identifying sustainable pathways to solutions for one million internally displaced people in Somalia. Leveraging his expertise cultivated at the UN Environment Programme, Karel actively integrates climate adaptation processes into Durable Solutions programming across Africa.
