Demandes de justice et traitement des injustices socio-spatiales et environnementales dans les pays du Sud/Demands for justice and responses to socio-spatial and environmental injustice in the global South

23 April 2024 - 25 April 2024

When carbon markets go wrong: How to ensure access to remedy for land tenure violations

07 February 2024

This webinar will explore what access to remedy might look like for communities in the global carbon market system, with a focus on issues of land and resources tenure. Hearing from communities impacted by carbon markets and experts in grievance mechanism design, the webinar will highlight the key features necessary for accessible, dependable, and credible grievance mechanisms. The discussion will offer critical input to the proposed grievance mechanism for markets established under Article 6.4 of the UNFCCC Paris Agreement.

Using spatial data tools to plan for urbanisation, climate-change and shifting economic conditions

13 September 2023

In this webinar we explore and discuss two multi-partner platforms that process large datasets and provide tools to support decision making in complex, dynamic urban and regional environments. What impacts are they trying to achieve? How do they enhance efforts to engage with the information so produced?

Monitoring Water Quality of Inland Lakes using Remote Sensing

17 July 2023 - 24 July 2023

NASA’s Applied Remote Sensing Training Program (ARSET) has opened a new open, online webinar series: Monitoring Water Quality of Inland Lakes using Remote Sensing. This advanced-level training will focus on using remote sensing observations from Landsat 8 and 9, Sentinel-2, and Sentinel-3 for assessing water quality parameters, including chlorophyll-a concentration, turbidity, and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in inland lakes. This training will also highlight the importance of in situ measurements of these parameters, coincident with satellite observations, in developing methodologies for operational water quality monitoring.

Regional webinars on integrating land tenure into restoration initiatives

14 May 2023 - 16 May 2023

These webinars aim to raise awareness on the value of tenure security and its contribution to biodiversity conservation, sustainable land management, ecosystem restoration, and climate change mitigation and adaptation while improving food security and local livelihoods.

Crop Mapping using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Optical Remote Sensing

03 April 2023 - 12 April 2023

NASA’s Applied Remote Sensing Training Program (ARSET) has opened a new online advanced webinar series: Crop Mapping using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Optical Remote Sensing. This three-part training, presented in English and Spanish, is open to the public and builds on previous ARSET agricultural trainings. Here we present more advanced radar remote sensing techniques using polarimetry and a canopy structure dynamic model to monitor crop growth. The training will also cover methods that use machine learning methods to classify crop type using a time series of Sentinel-1 & Sentinel-2 imagery. This series will include practical exercises using the Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP) and Python code written in Python Jupyter Notebooks, a web-based interactive development environment for scientific computing and machine learning.
