The international journal Rural 21 has dedicated more than 40 years to all topics surrounding rural development. Its ambition is to further those strategies and policies that strengthen rural areas of developing and newly industrialising countries and encourage their implementation. The journal addresses the complete range of relevant themes – from agriculture and fisheries via capacity building and education through to health and social security, energy supply and trade.

Founded in 1993, Community Self-Reliance Centre (CSRC) has been at the forefront of land and agrarian rights campaign in Nepal. CSRC educates and organizes people who are deprived of their basic rights to land and empowers them to lead free, secure and dignified lives. At ILEIA, we are committed to strengthening family farming rooted in agroecology. The International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ICARRD) in Porto Alegre 7-20 March 2006 was organized jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation and the Government of Brazil to explore new development opportunities to revitalize rural communities worldwide.

With the establishment of the African Farmers’ Association of South Africa (AFASA) in Boksburg on 11 and 12 April 2011, developing farmers now have a new, powerful voice.
