Climate Smart Agriculture
This paper examines some of the key technical, institutional, policy and financial responses required to achieve climate-smart agriculture which sustainably increases productivity, resilience (adaptation), reduces/removes Greenhouse Gases (mitigation), and enhances achievement of national food security and development goals. Building on case studies from the field, the paper outlines a range of practices, approaches and tools aimed at increasing the resilience and productivity of agricultural production systems, while also reducing and removing emissions.

Climate change and agriculture scenarios for Malawi - Socio economic scenarios
This report contains the proceedings of the first workshop of an EC funded project designed to help Malawi obtain the tools, knowledge and capacities to adopt, advance, scale up and roll out solutions towards Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA). The aim of the workshop was to produce qualitative scenarios of Malawi's socio-economic futures, which will help make the analysis and quantitative modelling around CSA more robust and comprehensive.
Report of Tenure and Fishing Rights 2015: A global forum on rights-based approaches for fisheries, Siem Reap, Cambodia, 23–27 March 2015
The purpose of the forum was to foster a mutual understanding of the challenges faced by different groups in fisheries communities and to find common ground and options for empowering fishers and fisheries stakeholders. The 140 participants from 38 countries discussed the importance of tenure and rights for responsible resource management and equitable development in fisheries. Best practices and lessons learned were identified by forum participants based on their own experiences in a wide range of fisheries.

Varias décadas atrás, las administraciones públicas concentraban sus esfuerzos en fomentar la pesca y la acuicultura y asegurar el crecimiento de la producción y el consumo de sus productos. En el decenio de 1980, cuando muchos recursos alcanzaron la plena explotación o incluso una explotación excesiva, los responsables de las políticas comenzaron a prestar más atención a la ordenación pesquera además de ocuparse del fomento de la acuicultura.
Freshwater, Fish and the Future
This publication is a compilation of presentations and recommendations resulting from the Global Conference on Inland Fisheries: Freshwater, Fish and the Future, convened at FAO HQ in January 2015 and is part of an MOU signed with Michigan State University. Contents include scientific papers on inland fisheries from a global perspective that cover biological and socio-cultural assessments, drivers and governance issues. Ten steps to responsible inland fisheries are included along with recommendations for their implementation.
Fisheries in the Drylands of sub-Saharan Africa
The focus of this review has been on both documenting the general resilience of many fish resources to climatic variability and its underestimation in livelihood importance, including in protracted crisis situations, but also on enhancing the potential supply of fish from dryland areas by better use of the available water bodies, and in particular from small reservoirs.
Vicious circle of fish losses, vulnerability of natural resources and the poverty trap
This poster illustrates the findings of a situational analysis on post-harvest systems conducted in 2013 and 2014 in the Volta Basin, a shared water body in West Africa through the NEPAD-FAO Fish Programme (NFFP), within the framework of a collaborative undertaking between FAO, the Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).
