This Order amends the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006 (Saving and Transitional Provisions) Order 2011 in relation to relating to enforceability of obligations in respect of agreements entered into under section 75 of the Town and County Planning (Scotland) Act 1997, which was amended by the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006.

This Ordinance empowers the Council Committee to order in writing the owner or occupier of land to undertake or adopt such measures as they may deem necessary for the conservation of natural resources on such land and the prevention of injury to the natural resources on other land. Such Order may be made for prohibiting, regulating or controlling, among other things: (a) the breaking or clearing of land for the purposes of cultivation; (b) the grazing or watering of livestock; (c) the firing, clearing or destruction of vegetation; or (d) afforestation of deforestation.

[From CIFOR] This article explores the effects that gender composition of forest user groups has on property rights and forestry governance, based on data from 290 forest user groups in Kenya, Uganda, Bolivia, and Mexico. Findings indicate gender composition of user groups is important, but not always in the expected ways.

Forests and pastoralism are in a state of crisis in the Borana lowlands in southern Ethiopia. State management has failed to control forest exploitation and past and present development interventions continue to undermine pastoral production systems. In this paper the authors aim to show how a fundamental misunderstanding of pastoral land management, and in particular pastoral tenure systems, has undermined traditional institutions and the environment for which they were once responsible.

This Act provides the legislative basis for the reform of the Northern Ireland planning system. The reforms concern every aspect of planning, including how development plans are drawn up, how development proposals and applications are managed and the way in which these functions are delivered. The development plan and development management systems are modified so as to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Other significant changes are made in respect of planning appeals and enforcement.

Forest Management and Use in the Kyrgyz Republic: Development Potential

The overarching goal of this study was to understand the bottlenecks and the incentives present in forest management in the Kyrgyz Republic. The study focused on the legal, policy, social, institutional, and governance constraints that prevent rural communities living within and around forest lands from increasing the benefits they derive from the use of forest resources, while preserving fragile forest ecosystems.

This Act aims at transferring to the national park estate certain river red gum State forest lands in the Riverina area; enabling the transfer to Aboriginal ownership and conservation of certain other State forest lands in the Riverina area; enabling forestry operations to continue on land in the Riverina area remaining as State forest; enabling the collection of firewood for non-commercial purposes to continue in areas reserved as national or regional parks; etc.

These Regulations amend the Town and Country Planning (Trees) Regulations 1999, in relation to Wales, by inserting a new regulation 9A to make provision for the form and content of applications for consent to carry out work on trees subject to a tree preservation order. This Order amends section 1 of the Forestry Act 1967 by modifying, in accordance with section 59 of the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009, the functions of the Forestry Commissioners, to enable and require them to use land in Scotland placed at their disposal in the such a way as to contribute to the delivery of the climate change targets which are set in or under that Act.

Town and Country Planning (Tree Preservation)(England) Regulations 2012 (S.I. No. 605 of 2012).

These Regulations make provision regarding the making of tree preservation orders under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, which protects trees in conservation areas. They, among other things: prescribe the form of tree preservation orders and the procedure for their making, provisional effect, confirmation, variation and revocation; set out prohibited activities in relation to a tree protected by an order; and provide exceptions.
