These Rules provide that the Registry map for property in urban areas shall as far as possible be on the 1/1000 scale and that all plans of property in such areas shall be shown on such scale with necessary or obvious adjustments to conform to ordnance detail. They prescribe that a crystallised charge on the appointment of a receiver under a debenture may be registered as a burden affecting registered land under section 69 of the Registration of Title Act, 1964.

The Rules provide for the deletion from the Land Registration Rules, 1972 of the existing Form 3 and the introduction of a new Form 3, and amendment of Form 15. The Rules also provide for the amendment of Rules 19 and 35 of the Land Registration Rules, 1972. Form 3 concerns an application for first registration where purchase money or compensation does not exceed £50,000. Form 15 concerns application for the conversion of possessory title on a Certificate of Solicitor where the compensation, purchase money does not exceed £50,000.

This Act amends the Land Development Ordinance 1935 which aimed to provide for the systematic development and alienation of State Land in Sri Lanka. Under the amendements, the Government Agent shall not recover any fee for the registration of a permit (sect. 2). Every grant on which land is to be alienated shall contain the extent and description of the boundaries of such land.

Land Registers (Reconstructed Folios) Ordinance.

This Ordinance concerns provisions relating to the preparation of reconstructed folios for lost or damaged folios in land registers. There are provisions relating to the power of the Registrar-General after due investigation to prepare and insert folios into land registers (sect. 2). "Land Register" is defined as a book deemed to be kept by a Registrar of Lands for the purposes of the registration of instruments affecting land under the Registration of Documents Ordinance (sect. 9).
