A literature review about the farmland accumulation and the farmland market problem in Marxian economics was performed. Analysis of farmland accumulation and the farmland market has been conducted by relating to agricultural capitalization. In other words, research was advanced as a differentiation of the farmer class theory, and competition between the large-scale farm and small-scale farm has attracted attention.

The problems of agricultural land (AL) market state regulation have been analyzed, including the shortcomings of the new law concerning withdrawal of land plots from lands of agricultural purpose in case of non-use of them for the intended purpose. The law considers land as the land of natural and legal persons, but not concern land shares, which occupy in the structure of vacant land of about 50%. This gap needs to be bridged. A more careful approach is needed for the identification and definition of cadastral cost of land.

Agricultural land is one of the most valuable natural resources which can be found in Latvia, since agricultural land has long time served as an important resource of economic activity and food production. Efficient use of this valuable resource depends not only on technologies and knowledge at disposal of farmers but also on regulations concerning the real estate market and taxation of the real estate. Recent changes of the real estate market regulation as concerns agricultural land are analysed in this paper to identify a possible influence on the use of agricultural land.

The main peculiarities of land relations abroad are highlighted in the article. Basic principles of foreign experience of land use regarding market circulation of land, concentration of major land resources by right of ownership as well as the process and ways of reformation of land relations are generalized and systematized. Some peculiarities of lease relations, collection of rents and restrictions on title to land for foreigners are analysed. Some positive aspects are distinguished in order to use them in Ukraine.

This paper describes the result of investigations and research studies conducted targeting the old site of Hoa Duc and Bau Mon Hamlets, Hoa An Village, Phung Hiep District in Hau Giang Province, Vietnam (Can Tho until 2002), which has been the site of an investigation by the authors since 1993. The authors conducted an entire household survey targeting more than three hundred households in the same area, four times in 1993, 1997, 2002, and 2011, in cooperation with Can Tho University.

We aim at highlighting the trade-off firms face when choosing to locate in an urban or in a low-densely populated area. For that purpose, it is worth takingtwo types of rural areas into account : rural areas under urban influence and independent rural areas. In the first case, the location of non agricultural activities is mainly explained by the working of the land market.

The rate of increase of agricultural production, and especially food production, in Africa appears to have slowed down in the last few years. For 1959/60, the latest season for which data are available, provisional estimates indicate that there was a slight fall in production from the level of the previous year. On a per caput basis, food production appears to have fallen below the prewar level for the last three years.

The importance of agriculture in the economies of African countries cannot be overstated. Notwithstanding geographic and climatic diversity and other country specificities, the agricultural sector in African countries is the main source of rural livelihoods and, in general, employs more than two-thirds of the labour force. Agriculture generates more than a third of GDP in most African countries, and accounts for up to 40 per cent of exports. Most African countries have undertaken autonomous liberalization in agriculture.
