The growth of birch (Betula pendula Roth.) plantations on the abandoned agricultural lands

The results of birth growth investigation in the 9 year old plantation on the abandoned podzolic soils of agriculture lands are assumed. The planting density was 1100; 1600; 2500; 5000 and 1000 plants per hectare. The average heights have reached 5.31 and 5.36 m, but average DBH 5.38 and 5.36 cm in the plots with 10 000 and 5000 trees per hectare accordingly. The average height has reached 6.47; 6.65 and 6.73 m but average DBH 7.17; 6.67 and 7.38 cm in the plots with 2500; 1000 and 111 trees per hectare accordingly.

A research was carried out in 2015-2016 in the Rostov region with the help of "VEGA-Science" satellite. The intensity of irrigated land in one of the farms in the region was estimated. Field experiments were carried out in accordance with the procedures adopted by GOST 17.4.3.01-83, GOST 28168-89, OST 56 81-84. To delineate the boundaries of fields and add them into the database, high-resolution data were used: the scene of 2015-09-28. 14 thematic maps to estimate the degree of degradation (from 0 to 3 points) were made up for the entire study area.

Lease of farm lands is the most important process of proprietorial changes in the state’s agriculture sector. As an effect of turbulent socio-economic conditions and legal solutions resulting from country’s agricultural politics, its share in land’s management has significantly shrunk. Currently there is around 1.1 million ha of land in lease, which makes up for 23% of the land acquired by the Agricultural Property Agency of the State Treasury.

This study focuses on the land problems during small scale town development in China. By investigating 3 towns in S county, 4 main problems were found: (1) the conflict between the protection of farmland and urbanization. (2) the problems regarding rural land circulation. (3) the problems with urban planning. (4) the compensations to the farmers, whose land are acquisited by the goverment, can not meet their requirments.
