Travelling workshop was conducted during 19–21 October 2022 with total number of 124 participants including farmers from Oued Sbaihia and Gueffaya, Tunisia, experts from ICARDA, the General Directorate of Forests, and the Higher School of Agriculture of Mateur. The main objective of the traveling workshop was to increase awareness of farmers about sustainable silvopastoral restoration under changing climate and land use.

Women are involved in bean production and marketing, but their contribution is often invisible. This study is interested in understanding gender gaps in bean production, marketing, and decision-making powers over income and sales. A mixed method was used to collect survey data from 332 farming households and qualitative data from focus group discussions and key informant interviews. The respondents in the study were young men (30.42%), young women (13.25%), adult men (35.84%) and adult women (20.48%).

River, lake, floodplains and farmland produce foods to sustain livelihoods of communities for many generations. Given the increased population and development needs, these food production land-waterscapes have been so-called developed and transformed into specialized and controlled landscapes, claiming at increasing the management and improved productivities. These have induced the disconnection between rivers, floodplains, lakes and farmlands. Policy and institutional frameworks have been attached to these land-waterscapes.

Bahir Dar Zuria District in the Amhara Region has emerged as a potential milkshed with flourishing market-oriented dairy farms. However, there are several herd health and animal welfare issues affecting milk production and productivity in the district. To address these challenges, a community-based participatory dairy herd health and welfare management training was conducted by ILRI, SAPLING herd health, and HEARD project from 25 July 2023 to 02 Aug 2023 in Bahir Dar Zuria District.

Panorama solutions on Sustainable Rangeland Management (SRM) toolkit which is tested in North Africa and West Asia (NAWA region), with a specific focus on Tunisia, Jordan and Uzbekistan, and offers a package of holistic and multi-disciplinary tools for addressing the root cause of rangeland degradation.

In 2021 the Government of Tanzania released a revised edition of their manual for participatory village land use planning. The manual includes and promotes the joint village land use planning (JVLUP) approach, which ILRI has been supporting the government to develop and pilot. This will encourage the upscaling of JVLUP across the country improving the security of tenure of pastoralists and laying the foundation for improved rangeland management.
