Este documento analiza las relaciones de género en la problemática agraria ecuatoriana, con especial énfasis en las brechas en el acceso a la tierra. Además, estudia el rol que juega la mujer en la defensa del derecho a la alimentación y el derecho a la tierra, pero también su lucha por el territorio, a partir de un estudio de caso emblemático en Ecuador: el caso de la Asociación de Montubios Autónomos de Colimes (ASOMAC).

Las mujeres son importantes usuarias de recursos forestales. Sin embargo, su participación en la gobernanza forestal es limitada, y las razones de esta situación han sido poco estudiadas en México. Este artículo sostiene que la discriminación de género en la tenencia de la tierra, la división genérica del trabajo, la inequitativa distribución de beneficios y la visión estrictamente comercial de planes de manejo contribuyen a la exclusión femenina del manejo forestal comunitario (mfc).

The case study explores the intersect between customary tenure systems and gender roles in two villages in Phongsali district in the north of Laos. The country has a diverse population of ethnic communities who depend on forests and other natural resources for their livelihoods. These communities play an important role for conserving complex landscapes. However, their traditional land tenure practices are insufficiently documented and therefore poorly understood, and even more so the gender relations in customary systems.

Mozambique is a State Party to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa. Over the last two decades, the government of Mozambique has developed legal and policy frameworks to align its legislation with core human rights instruments, promote gender equality, and foster women’s land rights. Mozambique has gained considerable international recognition for these important efforts.

This report highlights the situation of women in the South-West and Hauts-Bassins of Burkina Faso: from land management to women's access to land, to the management of their income. The report illustrates major challenges and highlights possible solutions. It also provides an overview of the situation for young people and migrants. The paper also contains a base of recommendations aimed at boosting women's secure access in the two (2) regions identified.

Gender equality is key to eliminating poverty and hunger, and this has been demonstrated by FAO throughout its research across the world. FAO is committed to interventions that seek to reduce gender inequalities and this report has been produced as part of its eff orts to generate evidence and knowledge in compliance with FAO’s Policy on Gender Equality (FAO, 2013a). It is only through closing the gender gap that strategies on sustainable agriculture and rural development can reach their full potential.

Gender statistics play a key role in mainstreaming gender into policies of the state and serves as a tool to adequately assess and reflect the situation of women and men in economic, social and political spheres of the society. Gender statistics allows increasing public awareness about the status of women in relation to that of men and conducting systematic study of gender issues.

This report is based on 10 research projects carried out in 18 sites in seven countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Viet Nam. The studies formed the basis of ten informational briefs from the research sites published together with the report (available here: https://www.recoftc.org/publications/0000432). Each study documented the legal frameworks and customary practices that affect indigenous women’s rights to access and manage forest resources and create restrictions on those rights.

This country gender assessment (CGA) for the Republic of Azerbaijan was undertaken as part of FAO and national commitments to promote gender equality while integrating a gender perspective into its operations. The resulting CGA report focuses on the intersections of gender, agriculture and rural development, and presents a snapshot of critical gender-based inequalities and their consequences for agricultural production and rural livelihoods in Azerbaijan.

El objetivo de este informe tiene como propósito la identificación de "políticas públicas, marcos jurídicos, protocolos institucionales y otros posibles mechanismos que ofrezcan oportunidades para diseñar estrategias de incidencia para acceso, control y/o propiedad de la tierra para las mujeres rurales" en Honduras.

Es un hecho innegable que las mujeres en Panamá, al igual que en otros países del mundo, han contado con poca participación histórica en la tenencia de tierras. La cultura patriarcal predominante generó relaciones entre hombres y mujeres jerarquizadas, desiguales, inequitativas y discriminantes. Esto excluyó ayer y hoy a muchas mujeres de la propiedad de la tierra, dificultando el acceso a oportunidades y la generación de ingresos propios.
