The National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan is a cross-sectoral national strategic document of Grenada for the period of 2016-2020. Its main objective is to provide a holistic and practical framework for actions on conservation and sustainable use of national biodiversity for enhanced human wellbeing and livelihoods.The strategic priorities to achieve the objective are enhanced national capacity for biodiversity conservation and sustainable use and key national ecosystems restored and sustainably managed.

Order No. 375 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology validating the Regulation on reforestation.

This Order establishes the modalities of reforestation with a view of restoration of deforested, destroyed and damaged forest areas. The scope of reforestation shall be restoration of forest plantations, conservation of biological diversity and conservation of environmental values of forests. Reforestation shall be performed in natural, artificial and combined (combination of natural and artificial reforestation) manner. Reforestation shall be performed on (a) forest plots allotted on lease for timber extraction; and (b) on other forest plots by state bodies and local government.

This study analyzes the past, current and potential future deforestation resulting from the improvement of the road segment between San Juan Nepomuceno and the 6th route (PR-L1080) in Southeastern Paraguay. For the purpose of the analysis, the study used satellite images to detect deviations from the usual pattern of vegetation and thus identify anthropogenic change. The deforestation baseline in the study area was defined using Landsat imagery from 1987 to 2014.

The Guideline provides for areas of the public forestry and pasture fund that may be leased according to the public competition/bidding procedures. The forestry authorities assess the forestry and pasture areas at the beginning of the year and submit the proposed list of leases to the municipality together with a detailed report on their potential use. The leases should comply with the law requirements regarding the allowed activities as well as the long- and short-term management plans.

Regulation 435 of 2016 amends and supplements certain definitions laid down in Regulation 1347 of 2008 as well as its sections 7, 12, and 17. According to the amendment, the line Ministry has to request a technical report from the municipality within one week of an application submission while the municipality has to respond and prepare a technical report within 10 days of the request. Further, the value of the removed pasture area has to be paid in full before the approval is issued.

The Government of Kenya is in the process of establishing a National REDD+ Programme through the Kenya Forest Service (KFS). Two critical elements of the National REDD+ Programme are forest reference levels (FRL) and a National Forest Monitoring System (NFMS). This document describes the steps towards establishing the design of the NFMS and reference levels, through an enumeration and description of required tasks.
