The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

It shall not be lawful for any person to dig, take or carry away for building or construction purposes or for providing ballast for a vessel any sand, stone, gravel, etc. from any beach, seashore or floor or to move such materials along a public road, except under and in accordance with a permit from the Director of Public works. A permit shall be in the form as set out in the Schedule. No transport of such materials shall take place at night.

Land Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Land legislation shall be based on the principles set out in article 3. In accordance with the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, land may be the state, communal, private or other forms of ownership (art. 4). Article 4 also defines state lands and communal ownership. Article 5 concerns rights of foreigners to use land. Transactions with rights to a land plot shall be subject to state registration and shall not require notarization, except for the cases provided by law (art. 9). Article 10 defines the Land Fund of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Special Development Areas Act, 1998 (Act No. 2 of 1998).
Areas specified in the First Schedule are declared to be special development areas. The activities specified in the Second Schedule may be carried out in such areas. A person who wishes to become an approved developer may make an application to the Minister under section. No conditions to which the approval is subject are specified. Allowed activities include water-based activities, agricultural-based activities, and fisheries-based activities.
Decreto Legislativo Nº 838 - Adjudicación de predios rústicos a favor de personas y comunidades ubicadas en áreas de población desplazada.
El Decreto Legislativo, que consta de 3 artículos, suspende la aplicación del articulo 19 del Decreto Legislativo Nº 653 en las zonas de economía deprimida de la sierra, ceja de selva y selva, hasta el 31 de diciembre de 1998, con la finalidad de promover la reincorporación de la población desplazada por la violencia terrorista, facultando al Ministerio de Agricultura para que adjudique predios rústicos a favor de personas y comunidades ubicadas en áreas de población desplazada.
Ley Nº 26.681 - Sustituye texto de la Ley Nº 26.505.
La Ley, que consta de 1 artículos, sustituye el texto de la 2ª disposición complementaria de la Ley de promoción de la inversión privada en el desarrollo de las actividades económicas en las tierras del territorio nacional y de las comunidades campesinas y nativas, disponiendo que a partir de la fecha el Estado procederá a la venta o concesión de las tierras eriazas de su dominio en subasta publica.
