Location

The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

Law of the Republic of Estonia on Ownership.

This Law regulates property relations in the Republic of Estonia by defining owners, the forms of ownership, the grounds for origination of the right of ownership, and the principles of exercising and protecting the rights of ownership (art. 1). Ownership may be in the form of "personal property of a legal person", municipal property or state property (art. 2). Other forms of property may be established by law. Article 3 provides for common property. The remaining provisions of Part I ("General provisions") deal with the right of property and the protection of the right of property.

Crown Land Rules.

These Rules implement the Crown Lands Ordinance (Cap. 78) by making provisions for the following matters: Crown Land Rangers; damage to Crown lands; sale of Crown lands; government pastures; recreation ground pastures; Crown lands held by tenants; management of the Spout Grounds ; miscellaneous. Each district officer shall appoint a number of Rangers as he deems fit (rule 2). Rule 11 prohibits the damaging of trees. Rules 14 to 35 provide for the procedures and conditions of sale of Crown lands. (127 rules)

Beach Protection Act (Cap. 29).

Digging, taking, carrying away or aiding or assisting in digging, taking or carrying away any sand, stone, shingle or gravel from any beach or seashore in Grenada without the permission of the Permament Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Works is declared to be an offence (sect. 3). The Minister may, by Order, declare that this Law does not apply to a specified beach (sect. 4). If a vehicle is used in acts under section 3 the driver of the vehicle shall be guilty of an offence (sect. 5). Persons acting in contravention of this Law may be arrested without a warrant (sect. 6).

Land Acquisition Ordinance.

This Ordinance makes provision for the acquisition by the State of land which in the consideration of the Governor-in-Council should be acquired for public purposes. The Governor-in-Council may cause a declaration to this effect and the declaration shall be conclusive evidence that the land to which it relates is required for public purposes. A preliminary survey may be made by an authorized officer under section 4.

Land Surveyor's Act, 1980.

The 19 sections of this Act are divided into 6 Parts: Citation and Interpretation (I); Establishment of Land Surveyor's Board (II); Licensing and registration of Land Surveyors (III); Discipline (IV); Appeals (V); Miscellaneous (VI).A Board to be known as the Land Surveyors' Board is established under section 3. Rules laid down in Schedule I apply to the constitution of the Board. The Board shall organize land surveyor examinations, consider applications for land surveyor licences, and institute disciplinary legal proceedings in accordance with provisions 10 to 12 (sect. 5).
