El territorio weenhayek aún continúa en proceso de saneamiento. De los 197.000 hectáreas demandadas por los indígenas solo se tituló el 30%. En el proceso hubo problemas con ganaderos quienes se apropiaron de parte de lo demandado.Por ese motivo, a modo de proteger y defender su territorio, las familias weenhayek como medida estratégica desdoblaron sus comunidades constituyendo unas nuevas.

As reservas extrativistas, um dos legados do movimento organizado dos seringueiros do qual Chico Mendes foi um dos grandes protagonistas, foram idealizadas como proposta de desenvolvimento para Amazônia e para os povos da floresta, alternativa ao modelo estatal hegemônico, de características ambientalmente predatórias e socialmente excludentes. Desde o assassinato de Chico Mendes em 1988 foram criadas 88 reservas extrativistas (sendo 62 federais e 26 estaduais).

The Secretariat has the honour to present to the Human Rights Council the report of the Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, prepared pursuant to Council resolution 33/12. In the report the Special Rapporteur briefly refers to the activities undertaken since the submission of her last report, provides a thematic study on attacks against and the criminalization of indigenous human rights defenders and reflects on available prevention and protection measures. She concludes with recommendations on how various stakeholders can prevent violations and improve protection.

The present Law develops the context, principles and procedures for the right to prior consultation to Indigenous peoples or native regard to the legislative or administrative measures that directly affect them.  It is interpreted in accordance with the obligations under Convention 169 of the International Labour Organization (ILO), ratified by the Peruvian State through the Legislative Resolution 26253.
