One day land title transfer registration improves Malaysia’s position in World Bank’s ‘Doing Business’ report.

The efficiency of the one day land title transfer registration had contributed to the country's position in the 'Registering Property' indicator evaluated by the World Bank's 'Doing Business' report.

The Federal Territories Director of Lands and Mines Office (PPTGWP) said Malaysia is ranked a creditable 33rd out of the 190 economies for 2020 in the report.

Officials set to expedite Mondulkiri land registration

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction on Tuesday said 550 officials in inter-ministerial groups are set to implement a land registration plan in Mondulkiri province.

The announcement came at a meeting chaired by Minister Chea Sophara and attended by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhon, Minister of Environment Say Sam Al, and Mondulkiri provincial governor Svay Sam Eang.

Land registration nationwide to be completed in 2021

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has set 2021 as the deadline to complete land registration nationwide, including indigenous land registration, with 74% of total land parcels already registered.


Around 5.2 million land parcels were registered nationwide, accounting for 74% of the total 7 million land parcels by April 2019, according to a press statement from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction dated 02 May.


Customary Landowners Urged to Register Land

Following talks on customary land being alienated from land owners, the Land Department is encouraging Customary Land Owners to have their land registered.

This is to ensure these lands are bankable, so that they can use them for further development.

Speaking to th emedia recently, the lands minister said there were policies in place for customary lands registered under the lands department.

He is calling on land owners with portions of land near towns and cities to consult the lands department, and have their land registered.

Officials deny stealing land certificates in Pailin, made to swear

More than 40 officers from the Pailin Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction Department were made to swear before the statue of Yeay Yat on Monday that they had not misplaced 21 land titles.

No one knows the location of the missing certificates in question.

Department deputy director Suon Leaksmey told The Post on Tuesday that recent news about the loss of the land certificates belonging to residents is not true. He said the lost certificates were unused or they were just new certificates.

“They are unused ones and did not belong to any citizen,” he said.

Expert seeks bill to make land documentation seamless
