“Amahoro @ Scale” – Achieving peace at scale in Burundi by scaling up land governance approaches

The Netherlands Enterprise & Development Agency (RVO) is pleased to announce its collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) in Bujumbura, ZOA, VNG International and MiPAREC for the implementation of a LAND-at-scale project in Burundi “Amahoro @ Scale - An integrated approach towards improved tenure security and land governance in Burundi”. The intervention will run until 2025 and has a budget of 2.8 million Euros.

Govt repossesses 1.3m unclaimed plots of land

A total of 1,315,890 plots of land from across the country have been temporarily registered to the Government, after their owners failed to meet the December 2021 deadline of registration of all plots of land in the country.


Speaking to The New Times, Grace Nishimwe, the Head of Land Administration Department at Rwanda Land Management and Use Authority said that any unregistered land in the country falls under this category.

Much of the land in Uganda is subject to customary tenure. Because it is not officially registered, land users fear that they may be forced off their land. Registering land has many benefits: it gives the users more security and means they can invest in the land and pass it on to their children.

At the time, the Namibian government, during president Hifikepunye Pohamba's tenure, justified the move saying the region was too large and dividing it would enhance service delivery. This remains to be seen: Kavango West remains the most rural and one of the poorest regions in Namibia.

Support to Lao People's Democratic Republic in developing or revising sub-legislations under 2019 Land Law

FAO is providing support to the Government of Lao People's Democratic Republic in the crafting of relevant sub-legislations under the 2019 Land Law. This process is led by the Department of Land of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. FAO's support will ensure the mainstreaming of the principles and internationally recognized good practices of the VGGT, as well as building on the support provided and the network of partners at the time of drafting the land law.

La troisième conférence du service des  conservateurs de la Direction générale des impôts (DGI) s’est ouverte, jeudi 30 septembre 2021, à Yamoussoukro, avec l’ambition d’opérer une introspection en vue de bannir les pratiques inopérantes et améliorer les résultats notamment en matière de délivrance des ACD.

Les conservateurs entendent se donner les moyens de répondre efficacement au boom du marché foncier marqué par l’explosion des demandes d’actes.

In a virtual signing ceremony on September 9th, the partnership was made official.

The Rwanda Land Management & Use Authority (RMLUA), the Netherlands embassy in Kigali (EKN) and the Netherlands Enterprise and Development Agency (RVO) are delighted to announce a LAND-at-scale project in Rwanda. Together with Kadaster International and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), the RMLUA, EKN and RVO will be collaborating on an ambitious project over the coming four years.
