Our study focuses on pasture reform in Azerbaijan within the context of transition and pasture reform in Central Asian and Caucasian countries. Despite the rapid emergence of individualised rights for pasture plots, which is an exceptional development in this region, pasture reform in Azerbaijan has received little attention in the scientific literature.

Entre 1959 y 2008, no se había contemplado en Cuba redistribuir tierras a gran escala a productores individuales. Desde 1990, varias políticas de redistribución del uso de la tierra se aplicaron con importantes impactos, pero las áreas involucradas no alcanzaron un tamaño significativo a nivel nacional. A partir de 2008,ocurre una innovación mayor en la política agraria, con la entrega de muchas tierras ociosas en usufructo a productores sin tierras o con poca tierra. Un cambio de esta naturaleza y magnitud amerita ser descrito y analizado.

El presente trabajo estudia las principales transformaciones introducidas en la economía cubana en el periodo de 1975 a 2013, con un énfasis particular en la Tercera Reforma Agraria puesta en vigor a partir de 1993, la cual significó el tránsito hacia un nuevo modelo agrario cuyo objetivo principal sería resolver el problema de la soberanía alimenticia. Con esta nueva reforma agraria se reconfigura una vez más la forma de tenencia de la tierra en Cuba, estando actual- mente el 54% (de las tierras) en manos del Estado y el 46% restante es propiedad no estatal.

La reforma agraria y las invasiones a fincas privadas o del gobierno son temas tratados desde hace mucho tiempo en Guatemala; se han discutido desde la fallida reforma agraria impulsada por el ex presidente Juan Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán hasta la actualidad. Este artículo inicia con una sucinta referencia a la evolución histórica del tema de la tenencia de la tierra en Guatemala y analiza el papel desempeñado por los gobiernos de turno.

In Guatemala, a history of discrimination and inequality of opportunity led to a 36-year conflict that finally subsided with a Peace Agreement in 1996. Improvements since then have prevented a return to conflict and begun to create the conditions for sustained stability. However, the persistence of substantial inequality constitutes a risk factor for future stability and constrains Guatemala’s growth potential. Land distribution is highly unequal. The largest 2.5% of farms occupy nearly two-thirds of agricultural land while 90% of the farms are on only one-sixth of the agricultural land.

A living-lab for people (LL4P) has been conceptualized as an inclusive and diverse space to design, test, demonstrate and advance sociotechnical innovations and associated modes of governance. While initially proposed within the innovation and communication technologies (ICT), living-labs (LL) have broadened their scope to sectors such as health, cities, public sector, education, and rural development, and now are seen as methodologies or arenas for innovation in which users or citizens play a central and active role.

Les chiffres présentés dans la nouvelle publication sur la sécheresse en disent long sur l’urgence de s’attaquer à ce problème pressant. Pour lutter contre les effets négatifs de la sécheresse, la résilience mondiale à la sécheresse n’est pas une question de choix mais une nécessité.
