This paper serves three purposes. First, it gives a short introduction to the concept of sustainability in relation to land use. Since the Brundtland report it has become clear that sustainability is a dynamic concept that changes when conditions in society change. Moreover, it is easier to assess what is `unsustainable¿ than what is `sustainable¿. But that will not suppress the demand for sustainable developments.

Dealing with private property for public purposes : an interdisciplinary study of land transactions from a micro-scale perspective

Het doel van dit onderzoek is voor het Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving het actualiseren van een landelijke grondprijskaart 2001 en een landelijke eigendomskaart 2004. Om te komen tot een landelijke eigendomskaart hebben we diverse bronbestanden verzameld en bewerkt. De gegevens van het Kadaster zijn het meest voor de hand liggende bronbestand, maar deze kwamen door de hoge verstrekkingskosten niet in beeld voor dit project.

October 2013 — This report analyses Ghana’s Land Bill, Draft 3, and provides recommendations for how the Bill could more clearly and adequately accomplish its stated purpose and reflect the principles and mandates of the Constitution and National Land Policy. March 2014 – Odisha, a state on the eastern coast of India, has endeavored over the years to enact laws aimed at providing land to those cultivating it and redistributing ownership of land. Landesa designed and piloted a model where a local youth (called a Community Resource Person) – identified by the community – is trained to provide additional capacity to local government land administration officials to identify and provide title to the formerly landless families. This model was subsequently scaled to cover 1,042 villages in seven districts of the state.

Las asimetrías en la propiedad de la tierra en los países del MERCOSUR se originaron, desde mediados del Siglo XIX, en procesos históricos resultantes de políticas económicas y demográficas impulsadas por los incipientes Estados nacionales de la región. El tema de la tierra es tratado generalmente sólo como recurso productivo agrario, y con frecuencia aparece descontextualizado de los factores que determinan las condiciones de su acceso y uso por parte de los diferentes sectores socio-agrarios de cada país y en el plano regional.

Article 38 (1) shall be amended to add the following wording: “Article 38 (1). The use of agricultural land for rural tourism (agro-tourism). Owners of agricultural land can place on these lands structures for the reception of tourists of the category of agrotouristic boarding house without changing the designation of the respective land. The aforesaid right can be realized if the owner of agricultural land is engaged in agricultural activities for at least five years". La presente Resolución modifica la que tiene por objeto unificar las actividades relacionadas a la conformación, actualización, custodia y archivo del Expediente de Restitución de Tierras, respecto a los responsables de la conformación del expediente físico de restitución de tierras que estará a cargo del profesional catastral, social, étnico y jurídico a quien se le asigne el conocimiento de cada una de las solicitudes de restitución de tierras.

This Act, consisting of 40 sections, makes provisions with respect to land tenure rights, conveyance of lands, easements, transfer of land, leases, mortgages, foreign governments right to own land and various other matters relative to the registration of titles, use of land rights, transfer of land, etc.

This Regional Legislative Decree, consisting of 18 articles, adapts Law No. 54/2005 on the ownership of water resources to the legislation of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. It regulates the following land ownership issues: Land near the crest of the cliffs reached or inserted in consolidated urban centres; Process of recognition of private property on public land parcels; Administrative easements on private plots of beds and public water banks; Areas threatened by the sea or floods, etc.
