B’ville physical planning board sworn in

28 January 2021

Members of the Bougainville Physical Planning (BPP) Board, under the Department for Lands, Physical Planning, Environment and Conservation, were sworn in on Wednesday, January 27th.

The Board consists of nine new members who pledged their oath and are currently undergoing an induction workshop about the roles and responsibilities of board members.

ABG Minister for Lands, Physical Planning, Environment and Conservation, Robert Hamal Sawa, congratulatedthe new members of the BPP Board but also cautioned them to work within the confines of the BPP Act 2013.

She had gone to Australia to attend her son’s graduation when she had a sudden onset of meningitis - an infection of the membranes that cover the brain and the spinal cord - which left her unconscious in an Australian hospital.


Proposed land management and urban planning law moves forward

A proposal that will lead to substantial changes to the existing law governing land management and urban planning in Cambodia is moving forward.

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) conducted an online consultative meeting regarding the proposed law. The meeting was led by Pen Sopahal, secretary of state, with other senior officials of the MLMUPC.

Overall, hundreds of millions of people worldwide have lost their livelihoods.

QC govt buys land for housing project of 3,000 informal settlers

The Quezon City government has bought a property in Barangay Bagong Silangan and Payatas  to house some 3,000 informal settlers. 

Mayor Joy Belmonte has signed the deeds of sale of 214,057 square meter property.

“Ito’y umpisa ng hangarin nating mabigyan ng katiyakan sa paninirahan ang mga informal settlers sa ating siyudad (This is the start of our dream to assure informal settlers that they would have their own homes in the city),” Belmonte said, noting that when she was elected mayor, part of her agenda is to address the concerns of the city’s informal settlers.

Starting from August 2020, Cities Alliance and UNOPS Gambia will organize a series of online and off-line engagements with local stakeholders to include a gender perspective and women’s demands into city policies and planning.
