Planning for progress in Timor-Leste

After two decades of independence, development in Timor-Leste is exemplified by growing economic activity in Dili, the country’s capital city. Businesses are emerging on various corners, new infrastructure and public buildings are being constructed, and much improved information and communication technology has opened doors for the service sector and private enterprises to grow.

3ème conférence des conservateurs, une introspection pour améliorer les performances de la DGI

La troisième conférence du service des  conservateurs de la Direction générale des impôts (DGI) s’est ouverte, jeudi 30 septembre 2021, à Yamoussoukro, avec l’ambition d’opérer une introspection en vue de bannir les pratiques inopérantes et améliorer les résultats notamment en matière de délivrance des ACD.

Les conservateurs entendent se donner les moyens de répondre efficacement au boom du marché foncier marqué par l’explosion des demandes d’actes.

More than 75 pc of urban dwellers live in unplanned settlements - RC

MORE than 75 per cent of Tanzanians live in urban areas in unplanned settlements, the situation contributed by the government slow pace in urban planning drive.

The remarks were made here yesterday by Shinyanga Regional Commissioner Dr Philemon Sengati at the opening of a task meeting that among others, reviewed the implementation of the Strategic Plan for 2020/21, and discussed challenges on solutions to land conflicts as well completing the implementation of National Land Formalization Plan on settlements for 2013- 2023.

Many look beyond the city for land

Short of money to renovate her ancestral house in Punakha, a villager in Babesa sold 50 decimals of her wetland. With Nu 3,000 a decimal, it was a good deal in 1996 when construction  on wet land was not allowed. The land, which a Thimphu hotelier bought then had become a prime area today. Price for a decimal has reached Nu 1.5 million (M).

Power poles and land dispute delay Ring Road widening work

The Chinese contractor has said it cannot start work on Kalanki-Maharajgunj section until the electricity poles are removed. The work is already delayed by a year.

The second phase of Ring Road widening work involving the 8.2 km Kalanki-Maharajgunj section is still in limbo as the high-voltage power lines in the Samakhusi area have yet to be shifted.

The Department of Roads blames the Nepal Electricity Authority for the delay.
