The purpose of this Act is to protect national coasts to avoid flooding and degradation of land from the sea, fiords and other territorial sea areas. Coastal protection methods take into consideration the following: economic consideration, coastal protection measures of technical and environmental quality, coastal landscape conservation and restoration, recreational use of the coast, ensure the maintenance of existing access to the coast, and other issues of significant importance for coastal protection.

This Act provides for the prevention of soil degradation and damage to soil functions, protection of soil functions, and for the restoration of damaged soil functions.The Minister of Environment and Water, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, the Minister of Health, and the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works shall be responsible for implementing the State policy for soil protection, sustainable use and restoration at a national level.

This Act provides for the registration of title in land in the Bermudas. It establishes the Land Title Registry Office and defines the general powers of registrar. This Act does not affect the law of property in Bermuda as it applies to estates, interests or dealings in land that are not registered or required to be registered under this Act. The registrar shall establish and maintain the land title register and the cautions register. The cautions register shall include an individual register for each caution against the first registration of title to an unregistered estate.

This Act provides principally for the control on the development of land and the planning of development in the Cayman Islands. For this and other purposes, it establishes the Central Planning Authority and the Development Control Board. The Act also concerns acquisition and disposal of land for planning purposes. The Board or the Authority, as the case may be, shall assess and grant permission for proposed development.

This Regional Law regulates the issues of land-use planning of municipal units, the modalities of elaboration and composition of the required documentation. Municipal land-use planning scheme shall include: (a) general map; (b) maps (schemes) of functional areas; (c) mapping of the boundaries of territory and landmarks; (d) scheme of restricted use land areas; and (e) scheme of infrastructure.
