Fence Act (No. 59 of 2007).

This Act sets regulations on public and private fences to delimit property boundaries. The Act applies to the use of fence for delimitation of land and sets regulation on the type of fences permitted, make thereof (metal, electric, bush), agreed size of fences, their maintenance etc. The establishment of fences must be paid by both parties and should be in style of the building/construction belonging to it. Changes may occurr subject to pre-agreement on size and costs.

The aim of this Proclamation is to improve management and utilization of land and land resources for agricultural purposes. It applies to all land that lies outside of municipal borders. The Proclamation defines the right to acquire, free of charge, rural land by adult residents of the region, whose livelihood depends on agriculture, and other subjects. It also defines land use rights of peasants, pastoralists and semi-pastoralists and provides for the protection of such rights.

This BMZ comissioned report by GTZ highlights the dramatic increase of land concessions and rising inequality in land distribution in Cambodia. Parts of the study refer to an earlier report by Uch Sophas “Foreign Direct Investment in Land for Biomass Production in Cambodia”. The South-East Asian country Cambodia has an area of 181,035 km2.
