This Act amends the Land Development Ordinance 1935 which aimed to provide for the systematic development and alienation of State Land in Sri Lanka. Under the amendements, the Government Agent shall not recover any fee for the registration of a permit (sect. 2). Every grant on which land is to be alienated shall contain the extent and description of the boundaries of such land.

This Act amends the Land Development Ordinance that regulates the alienation of State Land. There are provisions relating to the power of the Land Commissioner to set aside selectons of persons for alienation of State Land as well as seizure and sale of land by prescribed institutions. Permits may be cancelled unless the conditions and provisions of the permit are observed.

This Act amends the Land Development Ordinance and repeals the Sale of State Land (Special Provisions) Law. There are amendments relating to the definitions of terms used within the Act. Section 8 concerns purposes for which State Land may be mapped out including the prevention of erosion from the soil and the protection, conservation and development needs of the area (sect. 8). There are extensive provisions relating to the manner of alienation of State Land including the need for a permit to occupy the land (sect. 19).

This Act amends the Land Acquisition Act that establishes the procedure to be followed by the competent authorities for the acquisition of land for public purposes. Section 45 of the Land Acquisition Act is amended as the acquiring officer shall tender and make payment of compensation in respect of acquisitioned land taking into consideration the market value of the land (sect. 2).

This Act amends the Land Acquistion Act which establishes the procedure to be followed by the competent authorities for the acquisition of land for public purpose. Section 17 is amended concerning persons entitled to compensation. The Acquiring officer shall pay the sum on the certificate issued by the Commissioner of Labour.

Land Resumption Ordinance.

This Ordinance relates to lands alienated by the Crown which are abandoned by their owners. The Government Agent publishes notices calling upon owners of abandoned land to prefer their claims (sect. 2). Every notice must be published in the Gazette (sect. 2). Where no claim is made in pursuance of such a notice, the Government Agent shall report to the Minister in order to make an order of resumption by the State (sect. 3). There are further provisions concerning the procedures for claims, power of Government Agents and penalties relevant to the Act.

Protection of Tenants (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act.

The amendments include changes to provisions concerning damage to premises or amenities and the Common Amenities Board. Where the Commissioner directs the Common Amenities Board shall repair any damage to any premises or restore and repair any facility that was previously provided for the tenant.

Transfer of Property Tax (Amendment) Act.

There are several amendments to provisions that concern the Tax on Transfer of Property Act. Persons that are not citizens of Sri Lanka must sign a declaration in the instrument of transfer effecting that they are non-citizens (sect. 2). There are further amendments concerning offences (sect. 3).

This Act imposes a property tax when there is a transfer of ownership of property to persons who are not citizens of Sri Lanka. They shall be charged from the transferee of such property an amount equivalent to the value of that property (sect. 2). The tax shall be paid to the Registrar of Lands in that district and paid into a Consolidated Fund. Section 3 concerns the effects of non-payment whereas there are provisions concerning the procedure for recovering due tax (sect. 8). There are further provisions regarding offences and a list of definitions relevant to the Act.
