The objectives of these Regulations, consisting of 17 sections and completed by four Schedules, are to: (a) prescribe standards for cadastral surveys; (b) regulate and control the making of cadastral surveys by licensed surveyors; and (c) prescribe forms and other matters relating to cadastral surveys. These Regulations are made under section 63 of the Surveying Act 2004.The Surveyors Board has powers and functions relating to the registration, training and certification of surveyors (sect. 8).

Ministerial Decree No. 1172 validating the Regulation on determining and mapping coastlines.

This Ministerial Decree sets forth the modalities for the accurate determination and mapping of the effective position of coastlines. The crossline between the surface of surface waterbodies (seas, lakes, rivers, ponds and water reservoirs) and the surface of dry land shall be established depending upon the determined water edge. Effective position of sea coastline shall be established at the maximum level of high tide and in the absence of such phenomenon in accordance with the surf line.

For the purpose of regulating the issues of expropriation and allotment of the plots of land the President establishes that expropriation and allotment of agricultural land, land of protected areas, and forest estate land for the purpose not related to the purposeful use of the aforesaid categories of land shall be the competence of the President. The right to a plot of land origins from the date of the official state registration thereof. Change of the purposeful use of land allotted for subsidiary small-holding shall be prohibited.

This Decree states that the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources shall be charged with making a survey of the areas under risk of landslides in Baku and Absheron peninsula and producing maps to determine the geographic coordinates of these areas. The local authorities shall ensure the coordination with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources to approve the construction projects in these areas in accordance with the Article 75.4 of the Code of Urban Planning and Construction.

This Decree validates the Statute of the Federal Committee on Land Resources and Land Survey. This Act establishes the Quantity Surveyors' Registration Board of Nigeria as a body corporate and defines its functions and powers. It also provides for registration of quantity surveyors by the Board and establishes the Disciplinary Committee and the Registered Quantity Surveyors Investigating Panel. The Committee shall be charged with the duty of considering and determining any case referred to it by the Panel. The Act also defines penalties for unprofessional conduct and grants regulation-making powers to the Minister.

This Order sets rules on administrative amendments and additions resulting from surveying companies operations. A survey company may only be established by private or partnership joint stock, or by merging with existing survey companies. A shareholder who no longer meets the requirements asked by the surveying company must ensure this is notified within 1 month.
